Elizabeth Mitchell’s Little Seed: Songs for Children by Woody Guthrie (**GIVEAWAY**)

It is my opinion that children are not being taught or exposed to enough of the “oldies, but goodies”.  The music of Woody Guthrie certainly qualifies as one of the good ones.  This new album by Elizabeth Mitchell is just what we need to gift to our children.  It is filled to the brim with simple, fun songs about things all parents can relate to and silly songs that kids will love to sing.

Riding In My CarMy boys love the car sounds, the mention of ALL kinds of transportation modes, including a garbage truck!  There is even a surprise rider in the car!

Bling BlangThrow back to simpler days and listen along with this one.  Lots of fun words to sing about building a house with a hammer and saw in this one!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: A fun tongue-twister that had my kids giggling…

Why, Oh WhyParents around the world can relate to this one!  I believe it was written for those of us with uber-inquisitive children.  My favorite part?  “Because, because, because, because…”

Sleep EyeGo to sleep!  A gentle way to encourage your little ones to slip into slumber…

Who’s My Pretty Baby?Lovin’ words and thoughts for thinking and singing to your little one…

Rattle My RattleAnother tongue-twister that will have you giggling in the attempts to sing along…

This Land Is Your LandSuch a foundational song for singing about our amazing country…  Everyone should be able to sing this one!  If you don’t know it, learn it and teach it to your kids!

Merry-Go-RoundSmiles will abound as you sing (and dance) about all the things that can happen when you ride on a merry-go-round!

One Day OldA sweet song about new babies of all kinds…

Little SugarA bouncing and tickling song with lots of nicknames…  “Little sack of sugar, I could eat you up!”

Grassy Grass GrassA simple chant, perfect for laying outside on the grass, under a tree and watching the clouds go by

Little Seed“We’ll all dance around and see my little seed grow!”

Elizabeth Mitchell and her family have created yet another album that brings back the music we need to listen to, sing out loud and teach our children.  Woody Guthrie was a musical genius in his simultaneous simplicity and profoundness.  His songs highlight the everyday things in life, while helping celebrate and enjoy them.  A big thank you to Elizabeth for bringing them back to us!
