Radio Jungle **GIVEAWAY**

I love music that makes me want to pick my kiddos up and dance with them around the room.  You know the kind- music that makes you do incredibly ridiculous dance moves that embarrass your children and afterwards make you wonder where you got the energy to do them in the first place.  Radio Jungle, by the Pop Ups, fits the bill.  Each song has an underlying beat that keeps your blood moving without being too much.  The lyrics are fun, educational and creative.

Check out these songs:

Connect the Stars

A song about using your imagination to find animal pictures in the stars (the ones in the sky, not the ones on the album)

The Bat

A story-song full of rhymes with a Latin beat

Box of Crayons

Opening up realms of possibility by creating your own world using a box of crayons

Pop Up City

Describes a book in which a city pops up from the pages

Math Rock

A counting song with a fun beat and lots of repetition (This one gets stuck in my head.  That means it must be a good one.)

Best Fruit

Apparently, a party is not a party without fruit salad.  Detailed descriptions of the appearance of each fruit in a fruit salad and how to eat it will have you chuckling.

Banana

Oh, banana!  Where do you come from?

Feelings Change

The instruments themselves laugh, cry, growl, and freeze.  An amazing bit of subtle instrumental artistry (Pay attention or you will miss it!)

Elephant

A syllabic bit of swing music befitting the gait of an elephant that emphasizes the idea that words are made from pieces

Color Wheel

Color mixing in music

You can listen to snippets of the songs or download the entire album here.

There is a little bit of everything on this album.  The variety of song styles, topics and educational opportunities is impressive.  It is obvious that these guys love what they are doing.  The music makes you want to listen to the songs over and over, helping kids learn about colors, animals, syllables, feelings, fruit and more.  A great tool for learning via music!  (And don’t forget the dancing.)

“Jason Rabinowitz & Jacob Stein of Brooklyn, NY, “THE POP UPS” believe that everyone loves hot beats and great songs and that people of any age respond to music written without compromise.  They are dedicated to educating, engaging, and enlightening through imaginative musical fun guaranteed not to embarrass you if the songs come up on shuffle in public.”

It would be great to hang with these guys and make music with them, but we will have to be content to listen to their newest album, Radio Jungle.  We can imagine ourselves with them while we sing and laugh along to the music.  Happy listening!

BUY IT!  This album is available online as a physical CD ($10) or as a digital download ($9).
