Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier **GIVEAWAY**

Being an advocate for attachment parenting, I’m a babywearer by nature, meaning I carry my baby – whether in a carrier of some sort or in my arms – the majority of the day.  Long before I knew about the mental, emotional and physical developmental benefits of babywearing, I found that my son could interact with us and the world around him when he was safe in my arms, thus crying considerably less than other babies and learning at a faster pace.  Even though I was “blessed” with one of those clingy babies that needs to be held constantly, I rather enjoyed keeping him close by for my own peace of mind.  And to get anything around the house done while holding him, I found out pretty quickly that I either needed to learn how to do things one-handed or find a carrier that worked.

Unfortunately, at that time the traditional wraps scared me. I tried a neighbor’s for a few days and never could quite get the hang of it.  It was complicated and time consuming to put on and remove. I needed something quick and easy, so I resorted to a more structured carrier.  Not ideal to keep my son skin to skin, but close enough at the time.  But I could only wear it for limited periods of time, as it would eventually hurt my back and get a little uncomfortable for my son as well.

As I continued this babywearing and holding practice with my second and now third child, I wish I had known about the Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier back then.  Their slogan “a wrap without all the wrapping” is exactly right!  You get the convenience of a structured carrier without having to sacrifice the comfort, softness and flexibility of a traditional wrap. No hassle = the best of both worlds.  I call it my hybrid carrier, and I simply LOVE it.

Made of a unique double loop of soft knit breathable cotton, this carrier has no hardware or extras in sight.  That means no buckles, rings, snaps, clasps, bulky padding, metal or plastic.  Unlike a sling, it rests on both shoulders and has an adjustable support band for greater back support and security.

The ergonomic design takes mere seconds to put on after you get the hang of it (super fast learning curve), and gives me no back discomfort even after prolonged use (which is more than I can say about my other 2 carriers).  In fact, it’s much more comfortable for both the caretaker and the baby than any carrier I have encountered.  Plus it’s quite stylish!

Baby K’Tan is machine washable and dryer safe, and supports discreet breastfeeding.  It fits babies 8 to 35 pounds, so I can fit my newborn, my 2 year old or even my 4 year old (not that he’d want to, though) in multiple positions:

The carrier comes in three types – 100% natural cotton, 100% organic cotton, and the breeze (half cotton/half breathable mesh) – and in six colors – Black, White, Warm Cocoa, Eggplant, Sage Green Or Natural.  Included are a matching baby hat and sash (for added security).  It folds down (or is stuffed down if you’re in a hurry) to a conveniently small size and fits in the included pouch (the sash doubles as a bag).

Baby K’Tan has a very thorough website full of resources, tips and information on babywearing, safety, benefits and instructions.  You can even see how other types of carriers measure up to the Baby K’Tan in their comparison chart.

Because the carrier is meant to be fitted, you will need to check sizing prior to ordering.  But don’t worry if you find that you’ve incorrectly ordered, as their customer service is wonderful.  Any sizing issues are quickly addressed (even if you’ve removed the tags and washed it!) to ensure an optimal fit.

Here’s a great demo video:

BUY IT!  Baby K’Tan starts at $59.99 and is sold on their website, on Amazon and other online stores, and in many stores worldwide.  Personalization is also available.  Get 15% off full-priced carriers through March 31st by using the code “BKNATION”.

A percentage of the proceeds from every sale of a Baby K’tan Baby Carrier will be allocated to the American Heart Association, and to help fund education, medical research, advocacy programs, and promotion of awareness and inclusion for individuals and families living with Down syndrome.
