Applecheeks Cloth Diapers (**GIVEAWAY**)

Applecheeks Diapers are a versatile cloth diapering system that will take you from birth to potty training, with 2 sizes fitting 7-40 pounds.

I had the pleasure of trying a size 2 envelope cover and one-size rayon bamboo insert on my 2 year old earlier this year, and it quickly became a dependable, “go-to” diaper for car rides and extended wear. I was excited to receive a size 1 envelope cover with the brand new stay-dry microterry insert for our newborn son.

Canadian made Applecheeks diapers are available in a variety of gorgeous colors. I received the dark chocolate.

Size 1 is estimated to fit 7-20 pounds, and size 2 is estimated to fit 18-40 pounds. Though their size differs, each has the same great features.

Each envelope cover has front and back elastic and snap closures.

You can stuff an insert in the pocket , and it will agitate out in the wash!

The stay dry inserts are microfiber topped with microfleece. There is red stitching on the microfiber side, as well as a tag warning not to put that side against baby’s skin. That makes it a little easier for babysitters! Both the stay-dry and the bamboo inserts are one-size, and fit in both size 1 and size 2 covers.

Here is the size 1 envelope cover measured folded and stretched:

You can use the inserts inside the easy-to-stuff pocket, then allow them to agitate out in the wash. Or, you can use the envelope cover as an all-in-two system, laying the insert inside, changing it when wet, and only washing the cover when it’s soiled.

Although the size 1 is estimated to fit from 7-18 pounds, here is my son at 3 days old and about 6 lbs 5 oz:

Another mom reviewer’s “2 cents”:

I’m what you’d call “new” to cloth diapering.  With our first baby, we used disposables all the way up until it was time to potty-train.  With our second baby, I decided to give cloth a try– mostly because I knew it would be a money-saver for our family, and better for my baby’s cute little bottom!  There are lots more great reasons to consider cloth, but these were the ones that drove me.  The thing I was looking forward to the least was, of course, cleaning up the mess!   SO, I decided that probably all I could do would be either the all-in-one (AIO) diapers or the all-in-two (AI2) diapers.  Definitely no pre-folds & covers & definitely no stuffing pocket diapers!  Well, then I tried the Applecheeks 2- Size Envelope Diaper with the Bamboo insert.  I am totally sold!

This diaper is very well-made with strong, stretchy elastic at the back and the legs to keep everything in– I’ve had no problems with leaking or blow-outs at all.  The diaper fits very trim and is easily adjustable with the two rows of front snaps.  The snaps are one of my favorite features, as the diapers I used mostly before this use velcro which, no matter what I do, creates havoc in the wash & ruins everything it’s washed with.

The best feature of all?  In my opinion– you don’t have to UNSTUFF this diaper!  The opening of the “envelope” diaper goes all the way across the width of the diaper which makes stuffing it easy, but you don’t have to unstuff it when you wash– just throw the whole thing in and it comes out on its own.  Genius!  You can also lay your inserts on the top without stuffing it all, which can potentially make it last longer for you if you only need to change the inserts out when changing your baby.

I was also very pleased with the Bamboo– this was my first time to use bamboo inserts.  Up until this point, I had used hemp & microfiber.  The bamboo is definitely the most absorbent in my opinion.  The bamboo fibers literally “drink” up the wetness & contains antimicrobial properties which make it fantastic & healthy for your sweet baby’s bottom!

BUY IT!  Envelope covers retail for about $19 for solids and $20.50 for prints. A bamboo insert adds about $8.50. Buying additional inserts and using the envelope cover as an all-in-two gives you a dependable cloth diapering system at a great price! Use the Applecheeks store locator to find a store near you. If you’re in Canada, you can also shop directly from Applecheeks.
