The Joy of Christmas Giveaway: Lakeshore Learning Color Discovery Boxes

Next up in our Joy of Christmas Giveaway Event, is…

Whether you are a classroom or homeschool teacher, chances are you know and subsequently love Lakeshore Learning.  It’s a teacher’s dream!  Even many Montessori-minded moms, like myself, can find a plethora of products to incorporate into their program.  That’s why they would make an excellent choice of holiday gifts for the teacher in your life.

With over 55 years of experience through 3 generations, Lakeshore is passionately committed to teachers, parents and children, as seen in their inventive and award-winning educational materials and toys. Their rigorous quality and safety standards prove that safety is of number one priority to them.  As parents and teachers, we can be confident that each and every product they sell meets and/or exceeds requirements for phthalate, BPA and lead content.  And they continue to monitor the safety through periodic testing and scanning.  Because most of their products are geared towards classrooms, Lakeshore performs comprehensive “use and abuse” testing to assure that their products will be tough enough for daily use (and abuse!) throughout the years of a classroom’s life.

Here are a just a few of my current favorites that I am hoping to get for our homeschool preschool soon:

Instruments from around the world

Dressing frames

Easy grip dough rollers

Texture brushes

But Lakeshore Learning doesn’t just stop at fabulous, superior-quality products for children aged infant to 6th grade.  They are a full-service website with a monthly updated section of free tools and resources for parents and teachers – lesson plans, projects and activities, printables, make your own flashcards, tracer pages, awards and word searches, and everything you need to spruce up your classroom (from clip art and calendars to an interactive classroom designer).  I have printed and incorporated several of last month’s materials into our homeschool – Fall Skip Counting, their Fall Leaf Wreath and this cute little Whooo am I? Owl Craft to name a few –  and will continue to do so throughout this school year.

If you are fortunate enough to live near one of their store locations, be sure to stop by for free teacher workshops and children’s crafts.  And be sure to check out their teacher’s club membership and their online outlet store, where you can pick up some fabulous items at great savings.

We were very fortunate to receive several of their “product picks” for the holiday season for a giveaway on our blog-azine.  (You’ll see them showcased here over the course of the next several days.)  They’ve been an absolute hit with our two kids, and it’s all they want to play with for the past several weeks.

Our first featured item is this set of Color discovery boxes for tots aged 9 months and up.  It’s a hands-on way to promote oral language development while simultaneously build color awareness.  With the older aged toddlers, you can play more advanced sorting games (not just colors).

In each of the 4 soft vinyl boxes, there are 4 boldly colored, textured sensory manipulatives (16 in all).  Each box contains one crayon, one ball, one animal and one fruit each:

Red: apple, bird, ball, crayon

Green: pear, turtle, ball, crayon

Blue: blueberry, fish, ball, crayon

Yellow: banana, duck, ball, crayon

This set retails for $49.95 but can be yours for free if you can…
