Whether you are a homeschooling family needing a hands-on resource for your geography unit, a grandparent looking for a unique gift for a grandchild or a parent seeking a resource to compliment what your child is learning in school, Putumayo has an amazing new series of publications that are just the thing! I would like to introduce you to the Africa, Europe and Latin America coloring books and coordinating sticker collections from the people who publish great multi-cultural children’s music. These large, high-quality resources are perfect for a child who learns best using coloring, stickers and other interactional materials.
The World Culture Collection coloring books measure almost 14 inches tall and 12 inches wide. The pictures are large and drawn with bold lines which make them ideal for any child, but especially children with visual impairments. The first pages include a map of the area and several facts about it. The last page of the coloring book provides facts and information about several of the pictures seen in the book. The outside illustrations are bright and colorful with lots of detail. My daughter said she loves the big pictures. “It gives me lots of room to color.”
The World Culture Collection sticker collections feature more than 120 re-usable stickers, a story board to place them on as well as facts and information about the stickers in the collection. Even the borders on the sticker pages are usable. The cover on this book is thick and hard, making it a safe place to store the stickers. If you want to know more about each book, click on its picture to look in the book on the Putumayo website.
Putumayo is thinking and working green. Both the coloring books and sticker collections are printed using soy ink and a Forest Stewardship Council certified printer. Plus, they provide funding for Trees, Water People, a group that supports global reforestation efforts.
Each coloring book is available for $9.95. The sticker books are available for $11.95. Both would make great investments in the education of your child! Although these books are only available for Africa, Europe and Latin America, I look forward to future publications from Putumayo Kids. Check them out on Facebook and Twitter to see the possibilities for your family!
If you love these resources, I encourage you to check out their World Music Collection. Travel around the world with the music available from Putumayo. There are so many options to choose from, but the learning possibilities are endless!
