What a Zoo! (**GIVEAWAY*)

Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights “What a Zoo” CD is full of bouncy songs about all kinds of animals and insects (real and imagined).  I love the way the music grabs your attention so you have no idea you are learning!  Picking favorites was difficult, but here are some of our favorite songs from this album:

Mosquitoes

Who knew you could write such a fun song about mosquitoes?  This song had the kids laughing about the lyrics and dancing around the room singing about mosquitoes.  Zzzzzz is for mosquito sounds and definitely not for boring!

Froggie Went A Courtin’

The unusual beat and accompaniment will make you sit up and take notice!  I already knew the words, but the new setting was wonderful.  Spent the rest of the day with it stuck in my head!

Happy as a Clam

This little ditty brings to light all the phrases, similies and metaphors about animals that we use in everyday conversations!  I had no idea there were so many!

Tofurky

Ever heard this word?  It cracks me up.  This is a delightful song about a menu addition for people who don’t eat meat.  It will have you shaking your tail feathers while you sing “Wobble, wobble, wobble not gobble, gobble, gobble”!

My Butterfly

This song actually uses the words metamorphosize and chrysalis in the lyrics.  Once again, the kids are so busy singing, they have no idea they are learning science and new vocabulary!  Good stuff!

This album was so much fun, that I found myself (an adult) singing and dancing with my kids.  I even shook my tail feathers when the Tofurky song was playing!  “What a Zoo!” will definitely be on the list of albums to play over and over on road trips.  I never expected that as an adult I could enjoy a kid-oriented album so much!
