Magic Cabin *GIVEAWAY CLOSED* Let the Magic Unfold…

Summer is a great time for camping, but why limit it to when the weather’s good?  Bring the outdoors indoors during these chilly winter months by indoor camping … then watch as the magic unfolds!

At some point last year I wrote of our indoor camping experience with blankets and sheets – my son absolutely loved it.  We’ve done it a couple of times since then, but it’s such a time-consuming hassle to use the required linens. (And how much “mess” it can create!)

Since it’s the dead of winter and freezing cold outside, I have been trying to find ways to entertain my 2 kids indoors before we all get cabin fever.  Then Magic Cabin agreed to send us a real tent and a lantern to live out our imagined scenario to the fullest.

I couldn’t wait to see the look on my little guy’s face, and he apparently couldn’t wait for me to get it up and going.  I had exactly 3 minutes to bring the package into the house, take it out and find out how to put it together before he had a cow.  Literally.  Luckily, the set-up was all very easy, taking less than 2 minutes.  I just took it out of the bag, sort of shook it around a bit, pushed down on the top and voila!  I didn’t even have to look at the instructions.

My daughter just giggled and my giddy son’s eyes gleamed like I had just performed the best magic trick EVER.  The first thing he did was go in with his lantern and watch a movie.  What a perfect way for my happy camper to spend a very snowy, indoor day! (Thanks, Magic Cabin!)

In fact, my kids (and dogs) love it so much that the tent has become a permanent fixture in our family den in the basement.  And when other kids come over, you should see the gleam in their eyes, too.

What moms will like: I like it because I don’t have to expend much time and energy setting it up and taking it down, and I don’t have to dirty up any of my linens in the process.

  • Waterproof poly oxford floor
  • Netting at the roof ensures good ventilation (and a good peek-a-boo window for mom)
  • Durable, UV-treated, 30-SPF-coated polyester fabric adds extra protection from the sun’s rays
  • Window and door that can easily be tied to an open position
  • Carrying case
  • Fast and easy one-touch set up
  • Size approximately 48 x 48 x 36

You can’t zip it up along the bottom like most tents to keep the pests out, but it’s still a great little day tent if you do happen to use it outdoors (beach, lake, etc.).  I was even planning on taking it with us to the beach in May as our napping area, if my son would allow it.

Price: $59.98

The perfect accessory to this fabulous camping tent is the Terra Kids Lantern.  It’s powered by a built-in generator, so you needn’t worry about yet another battery-operated toy.  It’s actually great as a night light or “flashlight” for scary trips to the bathroom late at night, whether you are at home or at a camp site.  (Adults can use this, too, right?) By the way, it really is as cool as it looks in the picture.

How does it work?  Wind up the crank a few times and the 5 LED bulbs will brightly shine the way.

Check out some of the other great features:

  • On-off button
  • Padded handle
  • Neoprene cover for the base with a carabiner clip and a small whistle
  • Compass on the top (let’s hope we never truly have to test that out)
  • Approximately 10 inches in height

Price: $36.98
