Yo Gabba Gabba Live! Tour + **GIVEAWAY CLOSED**

We had the privilege of watching the Yo Gabba Gabba! Live finale in Frisco’s Dr. Pepper Arena last Sunday.  Both of my kids were completely mesmerized, dancing, singing, watching and participating at every opportunity. (We might have sat down a mere two times during the entire performance!)  The show was a fun and high-energy rendition of various segments from the television show (much like the TV version only much longer), requiring some audience participation, of course, and captivated full attention of all the children the entire hour long show without  it being too loud or the arena completely darkened.  My 11 month old was thoroughly entertained and never once afraid, so the production crew really did think of the little ones when creating the atmosphere for the tour.

Upon arrival, we received free DJ Lance glasses, which my son refused to wear and my husband so kindly and proudly sported, and the “party” started without much delay.  Some of our personal highlights of the show were bubbles, confetti, balloons dropping from the ceiling, my son touching a couple of the characters as they came down the center aisle after intermission, and my favroite (and I was undoubtedly not alone in this),  Biz Markie’s extra long beat-boxing performance.  Even though the hour passed rather quickly and left us all wanting more, it was a perfect length for the little folk.

If they ever come on tour again, my suggestion is to get seats right near the front on the floor.  Not only do you get to see the cast and show better, but you have better opportunities to appear onstage with Biz Markie, interact with the cast, or catch the bubbles during the show.  But if you are not fortunate enough to secure those seats, I would purchase seats where we sat – on the side right off the floor (first row up).  We were able to interact with everything that was happening on the floor whenever we wanted and more easily than those on the floor sitting several rows back from the stage.  One thing to beware of is the overpriced souvenirs.  Maybe it’s just my cheap side coming out, but $28 for an infant t-shirt is a bit much.

Though the actual show was far from disappointing, we were a bit disappointed in the choice of celebrity guests, especially during the finale.  I understand that it’s subject to availability of the guests, but we had heard of some of the other celebrity appearances from the previous shows, so our excitement was building up the entire car ride to the arena.  I did not recognize the dancey dance friend nor the musical guest (a percussion band that was quite good).

Make sure you visit the Yo Gabba Gabba website every once in a while to keep up with news, updates and to see if they tour again next year.  I certainly will be in attendance again if they do.  If Yo Gabba Gabba decides to launch another tour and there’s a party coming near your city, GO SEE IT!  You won’t be disappointed. (Ignore my kids’ faces in this picture – they really did LOVE the show.)

And just because I think  Yo Gabba Gabba is awesome (and we love our NoM readers), we have another Yo Gabba Gabba 5 prize pack giveaway!  Included in this giveaway:

“Yo Gabba Gabba!: Music is Awesome Volume 2”

The entire car ride to the live concert, we listened to the catchy tunes of the Yo Gabba Gabba: Music Is Awesome Volume 2 CD.  It’s not a complete list of all the Yo Gabba Gabba favorites, but there are a bunch of the upbeat, danceable tunes that we have grown to love from the show delivered by great artists filling the playlist.  “Happy Birthday” from the Ting Tings is about my son’s all-time favorite and the groovy, melodious sounds of Solange Knowles’ “Momma Loves Baby” is my daughter’s (and mine).  And as is customary for YGG in general, there’s always a lesson or two to be learned in these songs.  Included in the CD are also some stickers of the gang.  After  listening to this CD, my conclusion is that I need the first volume!
