‘Twas minutes before BlogMania, when all through the house,
The only creature stirring was my computer mouse.
My knuckles were cracked and warmed up with care,
In hopes that BlogMania posts soon would be there.
The husband and kiddos were snug in their beds,
“Please baby sleep all night,” I secretly said.
Checked the connection as the storm rolled in,
No power outages tonight, ‘cuz this mommy needs to win.
As the clock strikes twelve and the fast clicking starts,
I can almost hear the thumping of all the moms’ hearts.
The biggest prize packages through all of blogland,
I need to focus and breathe and steady my hand.
Routinely through blogs, I clicked and I scrolled,
My eyes widen like a child’s as the prizes unfold.
But the baby cries echo – quick grab the Boppy,
Gonna nurse her on my lap as I keep on blog-hopping.
When what to my poor tired eyes did I see,
Only 5 more hours until the end of this spree.
Signing up for the giveaways, I stay up all night,
Now it’s early morning and I look like a fright.
My eyes how glazed, bloodshot and scary,
Would my husband even recognize the woman he married?
I’m so tired and weak, but don’t need to eat,
Just coffee and grooving to the mouse-clicking beat.
More rapid than race cars that ending time came,
So I whistled and shouted and cheered blogs by name.
“Now Foodie! Now Bakers! Now Parker and Bree!
On Marvelous Mommy! On Rempels and Tree!
As weary as I am, please don’t hit “the wall,”
I need to enter them, enter them, enter them all!
But the children were restless and the whole house awake,
Shouts from the kitchen, “There’s breakfast to make!”
And then in a twinkling I heard the loud whines,
Of the little ones crying, “No, this toy is mine!”
Dad spoke not a word but looked right at me,
The look that said, “Stop now and take care of your family.”
So off the computer I flew like a flash,
but very happy for entering the BlogMania stash.
So I happily exclaimed with all of my might,
“Happy winning to all, and to all a good-night.”
