LWP Review

If you haven’t seen the products that Life Without Plastic has to offer, I highly suggest you do.  There are items I never even thought about as non-plastic before!  And all of them thoroughly researched and deemed as the safest and highest quality alternatives.  Having done so much research themselves, the owners are extremely knowledgeable on different products, brands, materials, and even manufacturers and their plants, and were kind enough to answer my questions. (I’m sure they’ll answer yours, too.)

I recently got the privilege of reviewing 2 of the 4 products (both of which are from their unique brand Sanctus Mundo) that LWP is giving away as part of my BlogMania prize packages:

Children’s 3-Piece Green Frog Dish Set

On the outside, this fun dish set features a frog named “Mara,” but on the inside, it is made of high quality stainless steel (which we all know is safe and BPA-free, among other things).  When my son first laid eyes on these dishes, he was ecstatic.  I think he loved that the mug was full-sized and had a lid!  My husband keeps wanting to use the set, but I had to tell him that it was for the kids.

You can tell that the dishes are definitely heavy-duty and will stand the test of time.  Some other features I love:

  1. The soup bowl has a handle – you can sip it or spoon it!
  2. The lid on the mug is easily removable (it just sits on top) and helps prevent spills when carrying it around.  These days the lid has been useful in keeping the flies away (someone left the door open for too long and what seems to be a million flies have wandered in).

On several occasions I, too, have wanted to try out these fun and safe dishes, namely the huge soup bowl… I can see myself sipping a big cup of gourmet hot cocoa.

Pros:

  • High quality stainless steel
  • Durable
  • Cute and appealing design
  • Durable
  • Lid on mug
  • Handle on bowl

Cons:

  • Not dishwasher safe
  • A little pricey, but you are paying for a bigger-sized high quality stainless steel dish set that will outlast all of your kid’s plastic dish-ware

Price: $27.95

Stainless Steel Oval Bento Lunch Box

A perfect size for a sandwich or small meal or snack, this cute box is great for the on-the-go meal (work, school, car or picnic) or even to store leftovers in the fridge.  Infinitely better than all of my plastic storage containers I currently have.  The two latches are easy to open and close, even for a 3 year old.  You can even use a marker to write your name or the contents on the container for easy identification.  Stainless steel is great for keeping the temperature of whatever you have placed in it for longer periods, so it’s great to keep your pasta a little warm or your sandwich a little cooler until you’re ready to munch away!

Pros:

  • High quality stainless steel
  • Holds temperature well
  • Dishwasher-safe
  • Stovetop and toaster oven-safe

Cons:

  • Not water-tight
  • Again, a little pricey
  • I wish I had more of them (!)

Price: $15.95

It feels so good to use these safer alternatives in our home, and I plan on slowly replacing as many plastic household products as I can!
