“Smart choices for the family”

Top 3 Family Movies:

1. The Princess & The Frog
A clasic family film with everything Disney used to be about…but with a twist. Entertaining for the whole family (some voo-doo magic and a little scary, but our 2 and 4-year olds loved it!). Clean, fun, romantic, suspenceful, and an unexpected ending. One of the better Disney films we have seen in a while!
2. Astro Boy
We own and love this movie. It’s a great adventure with positive lessons, and perfect for little boys. Parts of it may be a little scary for preschoolers, but use your discretion.

3. The Spy Next Door
My boys love the Jackie Chan cartoon, so when this movie hit the red box, we snatched it up (after “pre-viewing” it via plugged in online). We were happy with the movie, although t
here were a couple inappropriate comments made by the little boy in the movie (they went right over our kid’s heads, but you may want to pre-view it before allowing your young ones to watch it). There was plenty of action, humor and “humorous action” that our whole family laughed at. I’d recommend this for any age, and it’s a good flick for the whole family to enjoy together.

Top 3 Date Night Movies:

1. No Reservations
A funny, romantic, scrumptious movie with just the right balance of drama. Make sure you have a snack handy (and possibly a box of tissues)!
2. Leap Year
So funny, romantic, witty, and a (actress’ name) classic. We watched it as a Date Night movie, but it would be ok for teens to watch also. There is mild language and one scene with Anna in her underwear and bra. I’m Scottish, so this being based mainly in Ireland made me want to travel to Europe and experience all the quirky humor and beautiful music, landscapes, and FOOD!
3. The Blind Side
Amazing, funny, emotional, and full of lessons. I’d recommend this to teens and up, but mainly b/c it would be boring for the little ones. I can honestly say that it’s been a LONG time since we have seen such a great movie. To top it off, it’s a true story!

I haven’t had little ones around for a long time to enjoy family movies with, but my husband and I love date nights. And one of my favorite date night movies is Date Night! A few scenes in that movie (the boat scene and car chase) were some of the funniest I’ve ever seen in a movie! I also LOVED The Blind Side – amazing movie!
I would have to agree with you. Family movies are on the rise. Look at http://www.filmcrave.com/list_genre_movie.php?genre=Family for a list of good ones. Highly recommended.
Thanks for the recommendations!!
Thanks for the list, it’s getting harder and harder to find family friendly movies. We loved the frog princess
We haven’t seen 5 out of 6 of these, lol! Thanks for the list, we are always looking for movie suggestions for the kids and us parents!
