When it comes to makeup, I know exactly the look I want to achieve. When it comes to the choosing of colors to get the look or even the application, I am clueless to an infinite degree. (You would think that being a former super model’s daughter I would know ALL about makeup, right?)
Every time I purchase makeup in order to achieve the “perfect look,” I disappointedly seem to get the wrong color. But if it’s opened and used, the general rule is that you can’t return it. Money wasted. Lots of it, in fact. Not with Orglamix! If you are not satisfied with the color, the packaging, or anything at all, you can return it for a FULL refund within 14 days of your purchase. It’s a totally risk-free purchase. Perhaps I can finally find those colors that will help me get the look I’ve had in my mind for the past 15 years.
What is Orglamix?
It is 100% pure, organic mineral makeup that is artisan crafted. Orglamix is PETA approved and contains ZERO synthetic ingredients: no nano particles, bismuth oxychloride, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals or parabens. And that’s not even the best part. Cheri, the founder, wanted to create pure and simple products (minimal ingredients) that are high quality (for maximum impact) and reasonably priced.
For the past several years (too numerous to count), I’ve had a makeup routine that takes 60 seconds or less and includes mascara, blush, and chapstick. On a special occasion, perhaps eyeliner and lipstick. And when I really get all dolled up, MAYBE powder and eyeshadow. Maybe.
Since I am totally clueless on the whole subject (except that I do know what I don’t want to look like), I asked Cheri to help me choose what to review. She’s fabulous in that department, by the way, and is always willing to help you with your future purchase. Here is me in a nutshell:
I have normal, medium-dark, olive skin that easily tans in the summer (maybe a little too easily). Now, before you start envying me, let me tell you this. In the winter, when I am seriously lacking in vitamin D (because I am a hermit in super cold weather), I have a horrible green tinge. I also have dark (really dark these days) circles under my eyes and naturally brown eyelids. Though it looks like I have brown eyeshadow on 24/7, my brown eyelids make it terribly difficult to put on any eyeshadow that isn’t brown.
Oh, did I mention that I am really skeptical to try any new colors? I am always afraid it will look too shimmery, dewy, frosty, or unreal. Based on my (very) long list of totally clueless requirements, Cheri at Orglamix sent me the following to review:
- A mineral glow (or bronzer) in Tourmaline
- A mineral blush in Rosemary
- A mineral corrector in Abricot
- A mineral eye color in Aurora
The thing with mineral makeup is that you have to have certain brushes to apply it, and when applied correctly, the look is flawless. Without them, the makeup can look a bit streaky and unnatural. I was afraid of this going into it, as I didn’t have any of the correct brushes. But I delve into my first mineral makeup experience anyway.
What did I think?
At first the eye shadow and the corrector both looked a little too powdery. However, within a couple of minutes, they both toned down a bit and adjusted to my skin tone. I’m not sure if that specific eye color is just that sparkly to begin with or if it’s just because I don’t have the proper brush, but it’s a bit much for me to wear o
n a daily basis. But on special occasions, I can see this fitting quite nicely. And guess what? My brown eyelid hue was all covered up without it looking too cakey and heavy! I am still working on applying the corrector under my eyes to get rid of the dark circles. Perhaps that’s when the recommended brush would play an integral part in the process.
I have always wanted to try a bronzer or glow, but thought that it would look to shimmery. I was pleasantly surprised when this one just left me with sheer radiance. Not shimmer, but a healthy glow. I can’t wait to try this in the winter when I look like Kermit the Frog.
The blush was by far my favorite. It was very subtle and just right for my complexion. And it stayed on ALL day! (My regular blush lasts me a couple of hours.)
Although I didn’t have the correct brushes to apply mineral makeup and the colors first appeared a bit overwhelming in their containers, I was overall impressed. Yes, the application was daunting for a newbie, but in time I know I will perfect my skills and become much more efficient. And yes, it adds time to my little 60-second routine, but it may be worth the extra bit of time spent.
Orglamix has a color for everyone, whether you like a subtle hint of color or you like to make a bold statement. In just eye color alone, Cheri has 125 fabulous shades from which to choose! Want a custom color? Orglamix will do that! Her Etsy store also sells the proper brush sets, an eye shadow of the month club membership, and fabulous kits for moms, newbies and brides (like this one that I wished I had on my wedding day 7 years ago).
BUY: The price for each of the products I tried is $4.99. See? It’s a great price! Because the jars are small, they make my diaper bag less bulky. Don’t let the size fool you, though. All Orglamix products are sold by weight, not volume, so there’s actually quite a bit in each of these containers.
Plus, if you’re a FaceBook fan, you have access to exclusive giveaways, contests, free samples, and more.
WIN: Orglamix is generously offering one reader three jars (in winner’s choice of colors) from the following formulas: Pure Organic Mineral Eye, BLush, Glow, Foundation, or Color Corrector
