What makes these diapers different? Every Starbunz diaper is fully bound with soft anti-pill, water-resistant fleece (the edges are completely encased as well), so they truly work for overnight use without an leakage! The All-In-One (AIO), or the Starbunz All Day Diaper, has a snap-in changeable insert. That means you can remove the insert, add another and reuse the cover! This system works more like an AI2, eliminating all the cons of an AIO – the longer drying time and the difficulty of effectively cleaning them. Personally, this is why I adore AI2’s. There is much less washing involved at the end of the day!

I love that the inserts are contoured! The majority of my other inserts are rectangularly shaped (are any babies out there rectangular?) and do not properly fit each of their coordinating shells. Made of 6 layers of cotton sherpa, backed with a waterproof layer, and topped with super soft micro-fleece, these inserts make any diaper trimmer and virtually leakproof without all that added bulk of doublers.

Although I love these diapers, I would not recommend the All Day Diaper system for newborns. Their “waste” is too liquidy and tends to extend past the inserts, making the diaper soiled and not able to be used again until washed.

Though I cannot attest to this personally (since I did not receive this insert to review), the pocket diaper inserts are also contoured and adaptable to other diapers. The 9 layers of either microfiber or cotton are accordion-folded for a quicker drying time.

When I first tried these on my daughter, I thought they would end up being bulky due to the fleece. But they were actually as trim or trimmer than my other diapers. And no gapping was a major plus!

But my daughter is a bit chunkier in the thighs than the average baby, so they are getting to be a (too) snug fit at 18 pounds and 7 months. With that being said, her older brother was the same way. As soon as he started to be mobile, the chunkiness decreased considerably. I have every confidence that she will lose some of that weight, and we will be able to stretch out the usage of these diapers for a few more months.
