Twice Bitten – Tropical Traditions Insect Repellent (Giveaway CLOSED)

Are you still being mauled by mosquitoes?  Then you’re gonna need this stuff:

Tropical Traditions Organic Insect Repellent

In the last few weeks, I have been dodging the outdoors.  Literally.  I really don’t want to put on any nasty toxic repellents or anything that smells too strongly, as I am still nursing and carrying around my teething (and shoulder-biting) 6 month old daughter.  And let me tell you, I am a magnet for mosquitoes.  Well, my son and I both.  Unlike me, he WILL go outdoors, and then come back with 5 new bites instantaneously.

We had been using another natural repellent for him for a couple of weeks, and it seemed to be working well.  However, it really does smell strongly.  Too strong to have him be around the infant when he has it on his skin.  You can smell it a mile away.  But we had to keep using it because he is allergic to mosquito bites.  Yes, allergic.  About half of his bites turn in to huge knotted welts, and the other half make a 5-inch diameter around the site fiery red and swollen to the core (I guess it has to do with how long the mosquito feasts on him).  It’s ghastly, poor thing!

When Tropical Traditions sent us their natural insect repellent, I was really eager to try it.  Their website had stated that it is safe for children and for application to the face.  I don’t know about you, but most repellents warn to avoid the face.  And as an added bonus, it is made with their very own Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (which I absolutely 100% endorse).

Wanna know the ingredients?

Purified water, organic Virgin Coconut Oil, organic jojoba, emulsifying wax (plant based, no soy), grapefruit seed extract, virgin palm oil, and organic essential oils of citronella, catnip, lemongrass, peppermint, and tansy.

Nothing you can’t pronounce, right?  So, it IS all natural and completely safe!  Though I haven’t yet had the need, I would definitely try it on the baby.  That’s how safe!

Does it work?
YES!  We have used it on my husband and my son several times, and tonight was the only time they have been bitten.  I think only once for my husband and twice for my son, who both went into a (battle)field of ravenously hungry mosquitoes, according to the hubby.

And guess what? It doesn’t have even half the strong scent of the “other stuff” we were using.  It’s Fabulous with a capital “F!”  So, I am not concerned with having my son (or husband) “rub elbows” with the baby when they’ve applied it on their skin.

BUY IT (and say NO to mosquitoes)!
Tropical Traditions currently sells their 4-ounce bottle of Organic Insect Repellent lotion (which will probably last our family through a few mosquito seasons) for $8.50.
